Communication and Journalism : Print books

mySearch

mySearch is an interface which allows you to search across a range of library resources simultaneously, including books, journal articles and databases.

Finding print books and e-books

When you find the item you want on mySearch, the book record will display a shelfmark that tells you where the item is shelved.

The shelfmark will look like this: 006.6/LAN

The shelfmark is based on the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme and is displayed on the spine of the book. The numbers denote the subject of the book and the letters are the first three letters of the author's surname. The Library catalogue will also tell you what floor the item is located on.

Can't find the book you need?

  • Is the book out on loan? - Reserve the book
  • Is the book at another library site? - Reserve the book
  • Have you checked the reshelving trolleys?
