Wellbeing: Your local community

Coronavirus and lockdown restrictions

Please note that some of the suggestions below may not be possible during the current lockdown restrictions and social distancing requirements.

Volunteering is good for you!

SUBU has information on a huge range of volunteering opportunities, from helping people living with dementia, lending a hand at the Soup Kitchen or Slades Farm Community Garden project, beach cleans, and much more.

Or how about joining a beach clean with a local group such as  Surfers Against Sewage or Dorset Devils ?

The Green Rewards programme rewards BU staff for their sustainability and wellbeing actions. Follow their progress on Twitter @Sustainable_BU

There are loads of local volunteering opportunities with charities and non-profit making organizations available in the local area. Just follow these links, Bournemouth or Poole, for more details.

Join your public library

Membership is free, and open to anyone who lives, works or studies in and around the area (including Dorset and Poole). With one library membership card you can use any of the 150+ libraries in the LibrariesWest consortium.
