Hansard (the Official Report) is a "substantially verbatim" report of proceedings in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Both Houses of Parliament have Select Committees. Their task is to scrutinise the workings of government and to publish reports of their findings.
Command Papers are government publications presented to Parliament "by Command of His Majesty". They include Green Papers (government consultation documents) and White Papers (government policy documents). A Command Paper is usually identified by a sequence of letters and numbers, e.g. Cm 8865. The Law Commission is an independent body established by statute to review the law and to suggest areas of reform.
