What is PAL?
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a scheme that is intended to foster cross-year support between students on the same course/programme.
It encourages students to support each other and learn cooperatively under the guidance of students from the year above.
Your PAL Leaders have just survived their first year of uni and were in the same position as you this time last year!
PAL sessions range from weekly to monthly and should be planned, structured and friendly. Your PAL leader is not there to teach you and provide information, but is there to facilitate discussion, encourage peer collaboration and share their experiences.
PAL is not a means of reducing existing lecturer-student contact, but should be more than just an environment for social chatting.
Your sessions will be structured around your requests of what you want to cover or you feel you need support with. The more you put into your sessions, the more you will get out of them!
