Researchers: Managing your identity

Your identity

As different publishers and databases have a wide range of naming conventions, there might be ambiguities regarding authors' names.

It is important that researchers manage their identity to ensure that their publications and citations are properly recorded. Unique identifiers can help with this. In addition, many funders require researchers to have a unique ID.

This page provides information on the following:

Using identifiers on BRIAN

You can set BRIAN so that your ORCID and ResearchID are linked with your BRIAN profile.

See instructions below. Any queries about BRIAN should be directed to BRIAN@bournemouth.ac.uk

ORCID

ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID. It provides researchers with a unique identifier that enables them to distinguish themselves  and their research activity.

Go to ORCID to register for free in three easy steps. See instructions and videos below for more information about linking your ORCID ID to your work.

ResearcherID (Web of Science)

ResearcherID provides a unique identifier to manage your publications on Web of Science more effectively.
