Printed maps and atlases

Published geographical atlases are mainly classified at 912, and few large atlases are in the atlas stand on the first floor of The Sir Michael Cobham Library.

Published subject atlases are mainly with the subject. In the Library Catalogue Search for Atlas and Subject. For example: World Travel Atlas at 38.6025/WOR - with the tourism books, and The atlas of global conservation at  333.9516/HOE - with the books on conservation.

However many atlases are now published electronically these are available via the catalogue, for example the Atlas of Global Development and the Atlas of Human Infectious Diseases.

The library does not retain a collection of individual printed maps. Most maps, and aerial and satellite imagery are are now available electronically via various providers, see the other tabs in this guide for further information.
