Reading lists: a guide for academics: Integrating reading lists with Brightspace unit content

Reading lists in Talis Aspire are linked to the corresponding units on Brightspace. They can be accessed by students by clicking on the link in the bar at the top of the unit.

This isn't the only integration that's possible. You can also link to all or part of your reading list in the 'Content' part of your unit. You might want to do this, for example, if you want to flag parts of the reading list alongside your unit materials. The instructions below show you how to set this up.

1. Click on 'Content' in the bar at the top of the unit and then navigate the Table of Contents to the section to which you want to link to all or part of your reading list
2. Once there click on 'External Activities' and then click on 'External Learning Tools' from the drop-down list.

3. Select 'Talis Aspire Reading List' from the list of options. This will add a 'Talis aspire Reading List' link to the page.

4. Click on the 'Talis Aspire Reading List' item that's appeared on the page.

5. Specify which list you want linked by searching for it and selecting it. You can then specify which section or sub-section you want.
6. Click 'Save' once you've made your selections.

7. To rename the title of the link you've added, click on the title (default is 'Talis Aspire Reading LIst') and rename it. In this example it's been renamed 'Week 1 reading'.

8. The re-named link ('Week 1 reading') is now visible. Clicking on this will display the reading list sections selected earlier.
