Welcome to our social sciences subject guide. It will show you the best ways to find information for your studies and highlight where you should start looking. You can work through the guide from the beginning, or dip in as required. The guide is also intended to help you think about what types of sources we need, how to find them and in brief, how to evaluate them. Using good sources of information is essential for your academic work and will help to improve the quality of your assignments.
All academic units link to an online reading list, containing details of both key and supplementary reading. However you will also be expected to look for sources independently, and this guide is your starting point for that.
You can access reading lists via their respective units on Brightspace or by using the reading list search tool (make sure you check the unit number as some reading lists have very similar titles).
Brightspace (Look at the library pages in Brightspace for an overview of and access to general library services)
MySearch (designed to search multiple resources at one time)
Library catalogue (look for books at BU)
Library web pages (external web site)
Reading lists (online lists for all units)
