A Data Access Statement must be included in all published research articles describing where underlying research data and supporting documentation associated with the paper are available, and how they can be accessed.
Data Access Statements are required by some funders, such as UKRI. A Data Access Statement should include the following:
Examples of Data Access Statements
Openly available datasets | Research data supporting this publication are available from the [insert repository name] repository at [insert DOI]. |
This study used multiple datasets from several different sources. Full details of how the data was obtained are available in the documentation available from the [insert repository name] repository at [insert DOI]. | |
Restricted access datasets | Due to [ethical / commercial] concerns access to the supporting data is restricted. Access conditions and procedures are available from the [insert repository name] repository at [insert DOI]. |
