PAL Central: Other Session Ideas

An online hub of guidance and resources for our PAL Leaders and their Level 4 students.

Library Tours

Library Tours are a great way to introduce your students to some of the University's study spaces!

You can take your group on a tour of the Sir Michael Cobham Library at Talbot Campus to see the new study pods, study rooms and all the new furniture.

It is important to note that Library Tours can only take place between 9:30am-11am.

Please find below the link to the Library Tour Notes

Housing

Housing is a big worry for many new students.

You could run a session on where you can find Housing through many of the student housing websites.

Lettings BU is a Bournemouth University housing agent. They can be found opposite the student shop in Poole House.

The team offers great services to help students find accommodation and advice.

You could also introduce your students to various Find a Housemate groups on social media several of which are run by the Lettings BU team.

You could also share some tips and tricks you've picked up from living in housing or student accommodation.

Managing Homesickness

Everyone gets homesick sometimes!

You can run a session by covering the support services that BU helps to support with things like homesickness.

The link can be found here:

Activity idea:

Have students write down what they do to help them with homesickness.

Then run i group conversation similar to speed dating set up several stations around the room then have everyone mix with the idea to gather ideas from x number of people.

Once you are happy bring the group back and have them share one they found helpful.
