Global Talent Programme - Semester 2 Workshops

Hi all,

We are excited to announce the Global Talent Programme | GTP events coming up this semester.

All events listed below have hyperlinks to their relevant booking sites on MyCareerHub. You do not have to be signed up to the programme to attend but of course we would encourage you to do so. 
The programme has some fantastic speakers lined up! Please see them below:

  •          Wednesday 5th February, 2-4pmGlobal Mindset in the Workplace with Milena Bobeva and BU Alumna Vera Markova who is fighting Zero Waste with her company Revolucia
  •        Wednesday 12th February 3-5pmGlobal Connectivity - we will be focussing on resilience and mental health in this session with BU Alum Nick Jemetta, Principal Product Manager and Mental Health Champion for Sainsbury’s and
    Kerry-Ann Randle, Head of Student Support and Well-being
  •          Wednesday 26th FebruaryGlobal Employability we will be collaborating with SUBU to deliver this session as a part of their More than My Degree Campaign. The focus of this session is receiving practical application advice on preparing for your career with Rebecca Hindley and
    BU Alum, Kevin Hough, who now owns his own Talent Acquisition company.
  •          Wednesday 4 & 25 MarchGlobal Project Lab – details to be confirmed. Students will work in groups towards a global challenge brief which links to one of the UN SDGs and present their solution to a panel.

It’s super quick for you to sign up via our website. You just need your BU email address. Drop -in sessions are also run on a Thursday afternoon in the Careers Centre 1-3pm.

 Some of the highlights from semester 1 are below:

- 550+ new students joined our #BUGlobalTalent journey so far in 2019/20  (and 2000+ overall students registered)

- 100% of our core workshops were delivered in collaboration between academics, industry practitioners, BU professional staff and past and current students

- Last term heard from a wide range of industry experts from British Airways, Southampton City Council, Cadbury and Facebook.

- 97% of surveyed students rated the core workshop speakers, session content and teaching quality, and the 100+ optional activities available as good, very good or excellent

- GTP won an award for Innovation in Internationalisation from the European Association for International Education (EAIE)  in September 2018

- 56% increased activity on the GTP award-winning mobile app and virtual portal (innovation award winner at the 2018 Abintegro Academic Conference) to 100+ extracurricular activities

Please remember that the GTP is:

  • Open to all BU Students
  • Completely free
  • Offered as an UG or PG Award depending on level of study
  • A great addition to your studies
